Deep Calls to Deep — wondering…

I thought I would post some OLD poetry today. Do not read too much into this. These are old poems from over ten years ago. I like these poems; that is all… That means you!… Don’t call me asking if I am alright… Don’t analyze me. These are just layers on the onion.

Just know my friends, I think about you all. The flashes of my minds eye and the memories that shoot like lighting in my dreams — are you. I have thought about each of you with regularity. Friends, fellows, countrymen… I like that line. Enjoy…

The Vanity of My Heart

My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?…
Then I look and see that it is your strength that carries me.

My God, Why have you forsaken me?…
Then I realize that on a solid rock I stand.

Why have you forsaken me?…
Then I see my world crumble around me and I know you are my stronghold.

forsaken me?…
Then I realize that you are the only one who knows my pain.

me?…
Then I see that it is I that has forsaken you

At the midnight hour…

When the night grows deathly quiet and the city lies sleeping,
When you become one with yourself, and you are your only companion,
When there are only shadows; no faces to see, no hands to hold,
When the cold sting of loneliness grips your heart,
When you know that the city claimed another victim,
When you taste the solitude of a broken soul,
When you reach out and the darkness is your only comfort,
When the time comes to sleep, the echo of your heart is a haunting torment,
When you smell the stagnation of the city,
When you realize tomorrow only brings a shred of light,
When the midnight hour approaches, and the demons come,
When you feel your soul being taken,
Why not let it go?…
