This update is really just a continuation written as a stream of consciousness from my trip home. It really should have been added to the bottom of the Great White North submission… Anyway, so you know what you are getting yourself into, I am still feeling very introspective.

I have been giving a lot of thought to the idea of children and what they represent in our lives. In many cases, they really become an extension, or better, an embodiment of our dreams not recognized as adults.

To this day, my dad continues to live vicariously through my brother. My dad dreams though his accomplishments, his acquaintances, and his experiences as a professional athlete. Who could blame him or judge him for this. I mean, he has a famous son who knows famous people. I also think that my brother is a realization of my father’s dreams. My father gave every minute of his time to us as children. I can count on three fingers the number of activities that my father did not attend during my entire childhood. What an awesome thing to say about your father. He was involved and committed to us as kids. How many parents can say that?

Thank you dad. Thanks for investing in us the most important gift you could give… your time.

Both Cam and Blake are in the process of becoming awesome fathers. They give their time, talents and energy to their beautiful kids. I have posted some great pictures of their little pumpkins in the photo section…

I hope that someday, I will be as good a father as my dad was to me and my brother.
